Types of treatments:
There are various treatment options for hyperhidrosis and there are two different types of hyperhidrosis (primary and secondary), which may require different treatments. Primary hyperhidrosis involves the overstimulation of the sweat glands and excessive sweating in this case isn't related to any underlying medical condition, so can be treated as an individual condition. Secondary hyperhidrosis is caused by an illness or condition, such as diabetes or cancer and to completely rid the body of excess sweating the underlying condition would also have to be treated.
There are different ways to treat hyperhidrosis and although some may involve medical treatments, others act as a guideline for the best behaviour and lifestyle to help to reduce sweating. If these changes do not have any effect, a doctor will usually refer you to a dermatologist.
